Patience……

Guess what???   I am still alive and kicking!  Yep!  Decided that it was WAY past due for a little blogging.  I finally feel like my life is not on hold any longer.  It has taken a long time to get here, but I can finally breathe again.  We have been in the process of selling our house for 6 months.  It has been the longest, most frustrating, and sometimes downright dismal experience we have had to deal with.  There has been lots of tears, some major tension between all parties involved and lots of praying.  But after 6 months, it is finally done.  A few things I have learned from this experience…..1) I will never have any dealings with Wells Fargo again; 2) I will never rent out another house unless money is a non-issue; and 3) We are extremely blessed with family and friends who have kept us sane and have been our rocks throughout this whole process.

So what does that mean for us now?  It means we can finally look for a place of our own!  Honestly, I have been looking since we got the contract signed back in August.  We had no idea what a long haul it was going to be over the next 6 months.  I think it was probably the longest 6 months ever.  Not only could we not buy a house until we closed on ours, but we couldn’t pay off the debt in full until (which was our main goal from the get-go) until the house closed.  On March 7, that FINALLY happened!!

We have found a house we love and are working towards making it ours!  We are definitely hoping that this process doesn’t follow the same path as the selling of our house.  And so far, it hasn’t.  But we could definitely use a few of your prayers and fingers crossed if you have some time!!  Troy and I feel like we can breathe again and finally move forward.  But even with all the difficulties, we have learned through this process that you can get through anything when you have a good support system.  And that is something we are TRULY blessed with.  So stay tuned for the Priddy Crew’s newest adventure!  I am hoping that this new adventure will mean more sewing for me since I would have a designated craft space again.  I am really looking forward to trying out a lot of those Pinterest pins I have been hoarding on my boards.  Lots of great sewing projects and projects for the home.  I am giddy with excitement!  I will leave you with a sneak peek of the house we are hoping to make our next home!!

Hello Old Friends…..

As most of you know, I haven’t really had much time to sew since I went back to work over a year ago.  I miss it.  I have done a few little things here and there but haven’t really created much in the past year.  I miss it.  So I pulled out some fabric I cut out (BACK IN MAY) to make a ruffled camera strap to match my Jo Totes camera bag I got for Mother’s Day and got busy!  I have not sewn a camera strap in over a year!  YEPPERS!  It has been that long.  So here it is:

It was made to match my Jo Totes Camera Bag (although my yellows in the strap are a lot bolder):

The super cute fabric flowers were made by Lindsey of The Pleated Poppy!

One thing I realized……I missed my sewing machine.  I think she missed me too.  I miss creating on a regular basis.  One thing I forgot……….HOW EASY CAMERA STRAPS ARE TO MAKE!!!  You should give it a try.

I even have an easy to follow tutorial for a basic camera strap here.

Go ahead……make you 1 (or 2 or 3…).

Have a great week!

Another Easy Pinterest Project – Reusable Swiffer Dusters

My family uses the Swiffer Dusters on a regular basis.  They are just great to use in between the big cleanings.  But I hate having to buy the refills.  I was perusing Pinterest (no surprise there) and came across this great tutorial on how to make your own Duster:

This project took about 10 minutes and cost next to nothing.  I will be making LOTS of these and one will even make it to work with me.  You can just pop them in the wash when they get dirty and re-use them.  AWESOME and CHEAP!  She even has a tutorial on a Swiffer Mop Reusable Pad

Here is how mine turned out:

I have already put it to good use.  :)

What Pinterest projects have you been working on?

Simple Glittered Initial

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and had lots of quality time with their loved ones!!  Just wanted to share a quick and easy project we did for some holiday decorating.  You can dress up anything with this easy project.

Supplies:

  • Wooden Letter (I got mine from Hobby Lobby)
  • Glitter (color of your choice)
  • Mod Podge
  • Sealer (I used a spray sealer)

Lay out your wooden letter on to an easy to clean surface (or one you can throw away like wrapping paper or brown paper).  Cover the entire front and sides with Mod Podge.  I did a thicker layer so that the glitter would stick.  Sprinkle the glue over all glued surfaces.  I did this a few times to get the glitter coverage I wanted.  I waited about 20 minutes between coats of glitter to let the glue get tacky.

Once you get glitter in all the right places, let the Mod Podge dry completely.  When the glue is dry, take your spray sealer and add an even coat over all of the glittered areas.  I did about 3 coats to make sure it was good and sealed and glitter was not going to come off.

I added this newly decoupaged letter to my deco mesh wreath to personalize it a little more.

This really was an easy and inexpensive way to dress up an existing product.  And one that the kids can help with.
